The GATE Committee has been very busy lately. The annual GATE Fair was Thursday, April 20th. Close to 100 students attended and participated in different activities. Everyone had a wonderful time!

STEAM Symposium
This year was SCCOOE's 2nd annual STEAM Symposium. Teachers from the area attended a two day workshop that included keynote speakers and breakout sessions. One of the breakout sessions was a trip to Payne's steam lab! Teachers watched a fifth grade class and a second grade class participate in STEAM lessons. Rock Garden
1st graders at Baker had a beautiful rock ceremony this week. Each student painted a rock to place in their new rock garden. They sang songs and had a visit from the Baker Bobcat! Look at all their beautiful rocks.

GATE Classes
Our amazing GATE Committee put on another round of enrichment classes. Students were able to choose from Breakout Room, Create with Makey Makey, Earthquake Challenge, Makerspace, MIT App Inventor, Mystery Box, Rubber Band-Powered Lego Cars, and Super Science Concoctions II.

Wax Museum
Third graders at Country Lane had a very successful Wax Museum. Look at all the amazing costumes and projects!
Growth Mindset
Payne students have been learning about how growth mindsets can help them tackle challenging tasks. Last week, parents learned about growth mindsets, too! As part of our Payne Parent Workshop series, we provided an overview of Carol Dweck's work around growth mindsets and how to foster these traits in their children. ~Katie Berg
