STEAM Symposium

This year was SCCOOE's 2nd annual STEAM Symposium. Teachers from the area attended a two day workshop that included keynote speakers and breakout sessions. One of the breakout sessions was a trip to Payne's steam lab! Teachers watched a fifth grade class and a second grade class participate in STEAM lessons. Lego STEAM Challenge

Denise Advincula had her 2nd graders participate in a Lego STEAM challenge on Friday. They worked together in groups to build a successful bridge for Lego Batman and Robin to safely use!

Snow fun in Kindergarten!


Mariah Flanagan had her kinder students  make snowballs and a tiny snowman! They spent the rest of the afternoon writing about their experience. What a fun day at Payne!

STEAM activity

I had such a great time planning and teaching a Gingerbread Man STEAM activity in 2nd grade this week. We based the activity off of this question: How can we help the Gingerbread Man get across the river safely? Their ideas were thoughtful, creative, and well implemented!
